Preformed Windings Ltd., in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, is seeking to recruit a high-calibre graduate as a Mechanical Engineer who will be integral to a major strategic development for the company.
Preformed Windings manufacture high voltage coils with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Rotherham, UK. With over 50 years of experience, they deliver high quality coils for high voltage motors and generators, and pride themselves on being the fastest bespoke coil manufacturers in the world. They supply industries such as aerospace, nuclear, power generation and the food and beverage industry.
We are seeking to appoint a mechanical engineering graduate to strengthen the company\'s design function by the introduction and application of computer-aided design and engineering (CAD/E) techniques.
Ideally, you will have a Masters degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent, with significant 3D parametric CAD and finite element analysis content. A good undergraduate degree, with extensive relevant experience, may be acceptable.
You will have integrated manufacturing capability and a sound understanding of manufacturing processes and reverse engineering, preferably through laser scanning. You must be proactive and able to work efficiently, either independently or as part of a team, and have excellent communication skills (including report writing and presentations).
As a KTP Associate, you\'ll work predominately at Preformed Windings site in Rotherham, in addition to regular travel to Sheffield Hallam University to access facilities and attend meetings. You\'ll ideally be able to start work with us in October or November 2023.
The appointment carries a range of including a competitive salary (plus incentives including a significant individual training budget). Reviews and bonus-based rewards will be assessed as the project progresses.
Residential off-site management training will also be provided free of charge. As a university employee, the Associate will also be entitled to pursue a Masters level qualification, either as an MPhil or taught MS, at no cost to the individual.
Although the appointment is initially for 24 months, for the right candidate, it is likely that a permanent position will be available within the company upon successful completion of the project.
