Mechanical Design Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Permanent \xe2\x80\x93 Merseyside

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an organisation that specialises in the engineering, maintenance and installation of gas and diesel engine-based power plants, for energy efficient and renewable power generation.

Due to expansion and increased workload within their Mechanical Engineering team, they are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Merseyside to assist on a range of new and existing projects.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will produce mechanical engineering design packages, providing input and support at all stages of a project from sales through to installation.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Translate and develop conceptual designs that meet the functional and contractual specifications of secured orders (drawing out specs, calculations and component selection)
• Provide technical support through all stages of a project, from sales, concept design to commissioning and testing
• Timely preparation of customer conceptual design and tender preparation documents that meet quality standards
• Liase with appropriate colleagues to identify project requirements, develop detailed designs, and that design packages are to required timescales and standards of quality
• Conduct site surveys
• Liase with customers
• Conduct HAZOP and risk assessment studies
• Ensure full adherence to HSE and quality management policies and procedures

Mechanical Design Engineer requirements:

• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Mechanical design experience in any industry
• Good IT skills \xe2\x80\x93 MS Office
• Ideally have working knowledge of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD draughting package or similar
• Ideally have experience in CHP
• Must be willing and able to travel \xe2\x80\x93 both within the UK and international travel as required
