Role Overview
As Mechanical Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the management of an internal Mechanical Projects Delivery Team across a variety of Framework Contracts. Ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of self-delivery mechanical projects within H&J Martin values and guidelines, while adding value and development to our business. You will be based in Northern Ireland and report to the Head of Projects.
What you'll do
The following reflect the main tasks associated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:
Working closely with the Department Manager to manage the delivery of a variety of mechanical project works simultaneously, ensuring adequate labour resourcing and materials sourcing to deliver to scope, cost and quality requirements.
Liaise with and meet suppliers regularly to develop relationships adding value and promote HJM quality standards.
Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements for works ensuring Health and Safety standards are met and comply with current legislation.
Liaise with Quantity surveyors to review and challenge project budgets and forecasts to ensure margins are being achieved for mechanical self-delivery works.
Manage internal labour teams promoting service excellence, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives and deal effectively with poor performance.
Monitoring and management of defects and snags with aim of 'zero defects' on all works.
Report to the Department Manager on labour status, effectively manage labour planning to service all frameworks and lead recruitment for operatives as and when required.
Manage materials sourcing, procurement, ordering and delivery to stores/ site for works.
Manage a Delivery Team implementing effective planning, problem-solving and work delegation.
Ensure CAFM and document management systems are kept up to date.
Develop a mechanical self-delivery minor works team capable of delivering profitable high-quality projects.
What you'll bring
Essential Criteria:
Demonstratable experience managing Self Delivery Mechanical works for MTC Framework Contracts Minor Works projects, including within live buildings.
Strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering legislation and compliance, including but not limited to heating, domestic hot water, water safety legionella control, gas and oil installations.
Demonstratable experience of delivering works within Public Sector Estates.
Experience of effectively managing supply chain and internal labour.
Have a strong technical knowledge of Mechanical Installation practices that can be used to analyse programmes, alleviate risks and identify potential cost saving measures
Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable interfacing with senior managers and external clients
Strong working knowledge of HSEQ legislation for the construction industry.
Excellent IT skills across Microsoft Office Packages.
Hold a full valid driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
Hold a Mechanical qualification (NVQ or degree level)
Hold a trade qualification in Plumbing and Heating.
Demonstratable experience of delivering works within Healthcare sector.
A full member of a Mechanical professional body.
Working knowledge and experience of Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems
