MDA AS Systems Engineer

Job specification

Tasking

• Maintain, install, support, upgrade and remove Navy Command provided and supported IT and CIS systems, as required, used and deployed in RN/RM ships, submarines, units and establishments ensuring security of data and access to assets is maintained.
• Provide technical advice to MCSU/Navy Command on IT Security incidents.
• Provide technical advice to MCSU/Navy Command pertaining to and to coordinate equipment compliance issues relating to security and installation of IT and CIS system.
• Develop CIS and ISR technical solutions to meet Navy Command endorsed requirements.
• Provide advice on engineering standards appropriate to CIS systems and installation.
• Act as Mobile IT and CIS system technical support specialist to provide cover within UK, and overseas, as required.
• Provide IT and CIS through life support, remote and onsite, by administering systems or (by agreement) the training of local SysAdmin staff.
• Manage and conduct IT and CIS system upgrades and Tech Refresh Programmes.
• Provide out of hours call-out service as required.
• Responsible for the safe handling and accounting of classified material.

Person Specifics

• Developed vetting (essential)
• Maritime experience (essential)
• Network engineer with experience working on above secret systems and hardware
• Understanding of networks/bearers in maritime environment
• On ship experience - would suit WE/CIS background
• Experience of managing installations and complying with MOD standards
• Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision

• Base location: HMS Collingwood
• Salary: Dependant on Experience/Interview
