Group / Team description
Group/Team Description:
The Global New Business Intake (NBI) team seeks to ensure that acceptance of a new client/matter by the firm will not give rise to unacceptable risk to the firm as a whole while seeking to maximise the business that can be accepted. All new clients and matters across the global network are reviewed by the NBI team prior to acceptance.
NBI assists in mitigating the firm\'s risk in relation to:
Conflicts: both legal and commercial
Reputation: in relation to all new clients and matters
Sanctions: ensuring that the firm is not itself in breach of sanctions obligations applicable to it or its partners/staff
Strategy: with the input of relevant partners, accepting matters/clients that are complementary to the firm\'s broader strategies
Financial: through consideration of the creditworthiness of clients
NBI is a global team based in London, Sydney and Paris. It is comprised of 3 sub-teams: * Conflicts team
Financial Crime Team
Matter Management team
The firm currently operates with two separate Practice Management Systems (PMS) and as a consequence, there are differences in how matters are opened depending on whether it is a matter outside or inside Australia. For the most part, the processes undertaken by the NBI team are the same regardless of the jurisdiction or the local PMS. In addition, the team\'s working hours endeavour to ensure coverage across the firm regardless of the location of the new matter/client.
