Overview
As a Tutor at the AMRC Training Centre, you will play a key role in ensuring that the AMRC Training Centre's apprentices receive high-quality teaching by devising, designing, preparing, delivering and assessing knowledge elements of our Advanced and Higher apprenticeship programmes using active learning techniques within the classroom. You will be responsible for delivering your own units and meeting the requirements of Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework. You will have sufficient knowledge and experience to deliver a range of common units to advanced apprentices whilst having a key focus on Maths & Mechanical Principles units.
Experience of teaching the EAL Diploma is desirable.
You will have very good communication skills, be able to organise your workload and time effectively, be able to work independently with minimal supervision and work collaboratively with team members.
Ideally, you will hold a teaching qualification or the ability to work towards, and a relevant qualification in engineering, manufacturing, your given subject area or equivalent experience. Industrial experience in manufacturing and engineering would be advantageous.
Main duties and responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching in engineering subjects using a variety of active learning strategies.
Reflect on your teaching practice, taking advice from colleagues to improve your practice and apprentices' learning experience.
Devise and apply a range of assessment activities, including formative assessment.
Assess apprentices' work and provide feedback to support apprentices to improve and achieve their maximum potential.
The tracking of marked student work is to be done promptly and accurately ensuring it is kept up to date.
Provide academic and pastoral support to guide, challenge and inspire apprentices.
Write, develop, and monitor individual learning plans for apprentices, updating them as required.
Contribute to the review, planning, creation and development of the curriculum and units within.
Produce and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, individualised learning plans and learning materials.
Using virtual learning platforms such as Blackboard for online and hybrid teaching.
Contribute to the development of strategies to improve apprentice the retention, attendance, achievement, and success rates of apprentices.
Work with the Support Team to identify and support apprentices with additional learning requirements, and pastoral needs.
Deliver commercial training courses as required.
Take part in Open Events during evenings.
Make a full and active contribution, as a Tutor, to the AMRC Training Centre, including the pursuit of excellence in the education of our apprentices.

Essential Criteria
Have a Level 4, or higher, qualification in Engineering / your subject area, or similar, or evidence of relevant industrial experience (assessed at: application)
Proven teaching/training ability, ideally with a teaching qualification (assessed at: application)
Ability to plan and deliver effective teaching/training sessions, supporting apprentices to meet their learning outcomes. And have the knowledge of and/or experience using a range of teaching methodologies and virtual learning platforms (assessed at: interview & application)
Understanding of the academic and pastoral needs, and of supporting apprentices (assessed at: interview & application)
Excellent customer service skills, with experience in responding efficiently and effectively to phone and email queries (assessed at: interview & application)
Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines, alongside excellent attendance and punctuality (assessed at: interview & application)

Next steps in the recruitment process
