The Post Holder will actively support Maternal Medicine care, contributing to the delivery of a safe, professional, effective and efficient service. You will support the planning, implementation and evaluation of maternal medicine care delivery with regards to the specialist antenatal clinics, collaboration with medical specialities and engaging with the GM maternal medicine network regularly and other regional networks as needed.The primary purpose of this role is to support the development and implementation of pathways and services for women requiring access to specialist care for significant pre-existing medical conditions during pregnancy. It is recognised that maternal morbidity and mortality are increased by diseases that pre-date pregnancy, and by complications that arise during pregnancy. This role will support the national ambition to implement Maternal Medicine Networks. The post holder will work alongside the antenatal team, specialist midwives, obstetric colleagues and specialist consultants to optimise outcomes and reduce any existing inequalities.Main duties of the jobProvide care and support the development of personalised care plans for patient presenting for maternity care with pre-existing medical conditions by being an integral member of the maternal medicine team, Specialist Obstetricians, Specialist Physicians and collaboration with the regional networkProvide day to day support and supervision of the Maternal Medicine clinics, contributing to the delivery of a safe, professional, effective, and efficient care.Support the trust to achieve the national ambition of collaborating with the established GM Maternal Medicine NetworkProvide advice and information to educate staff, service users, and other stakeholders, and adopt a woman-centred approach to public health to improve health and tackle inequalities.Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Maternal medicine service at Stockport as links and working relationships with other specialties develop to ensure regular joint reviews for maternal medicine patients.Support the diabetes team with the service for type one diabetes as an existing medical condition.Work with the midwifery team in providing additional knowledge and experience in managing complex patients presenting with pre-existing medical conditions, and awareness of when to seek further advice.Will work alongside the antenatal team, specialist midwives, obstetric colleagues and specialist consultants to optimise outcomes and reduce any existing inequalities.About usWe hold a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of healthcare and we are one of its largest employers.We believe that the best organisations are those that reflect the communities they serve.   • Educated to degree or relevant experience
