The Role




The Master Production Scheduler plays a critical role in aligning customer demand with operational capabilities, acting as a key liaison between Sales, Marketing, Production, Procurement and Logistics. This position is responsible for managing and continually improving the demand forecasting and production planning processes through the effective use of data, systems, and cross-functional collaboration. The role supports the successful execution of the monthly Sales and Operations Planning cycle, converting market and customer insights into an accurate demand plan and translating this into a feasible, cost-effective production schedule. Success in this role drives customer satisfaction, service levels and operational efficiency across the site.


This is a new role to the business that will provide an opportunity for someone to come in and work with the SI&OP Manager to establish and embed the process/role.

Key Responsibilities



Master Scheduling



Develop, implement, and maintain detailed Master Production Schedules/Level Loaded Plans, using forecasted demand, inventory levels, production and supplier capacities. Ensure that schedules/plans meet budgeted targets whilst aligning with customer requirements. Adjust schedules/plans based on capacity constraints, production delays, supply chain disruptions, and any adjustments in customer demand. Coordinate with the production and procurement team to ensure the availability of resources such as equipment, materials, and personnel.

Inventory and Resource Management:



Monitor inventory levels and adjust Master Schedules/Plans to avoid overstocking or stockouts. Ensure the efficient allocation of resources, such as machines, labour, and raw materials, to maximize production efficiency.

Long-Term Capacity Feedback:



Identify potential production bottlenecks and proactively address them. Balance production capacity with demand to ensure optimal throughput and minimize lead times.

Continuous Improvement:



Analyse production performance data to identify areas for improvement in scheduling, resource utilization, and process efficiency. Implement best practices in Master Production Scheduling/Level Loading and resource management.

Reporting and Data Analysis:



Track and report on key production metrics, such as on-time delivery, production output, and inventory turnover. Maintain accurate records of Master Production Schedules/Level Loaded Plans, inventory levels, and any changes made to the plan.

Collaboration and Communication:



Maintain clear and effective communication with all relevant departments, including production, procurement, logistics, and sales. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of goals and seamless operations. Communicate any changes to the Master Production Schedules/Level Loaded Plans to all stakeholders promptly.

Compliance and Safety:



Master Production Scheduling/Level Load Planning activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Promote and enforce safety standards in the production environment.

Team Working:



Train out new processes to the wider business, present data analysis and revised strategies, promote a culture of continuous improvement and ensure team members

The Person



Educational Background:



Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

Experience:



The Master Production Scheduler will be able to demonstrate hands on experience in the setup of a Master Production Schedule/Level Loaded Plan, data analysis and ongoing performance management/improvements from first principles in past businesses. The Demand Planner will have at least 5 years' experience in strategic/senior production scheduling and preferably across more than one business.

Requirements for Demand Planner



Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, MRP (Material Requirements Planning) software, and scheduling tools. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or other production optimization methodologies is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:



Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements.
