The office has recently trebled in size and moved into a new fitted out space in the Colmore Building.Department DescriptionWe have a well-established global M&BD team, which supports the firm on a wide range of business development, marketing and client relationship management activities. The team focuses on a number of key areas: including BD & Strategy covering practice and sector M&BD and client development; Operations and Systems, which includes Pitches and Pursuits, for strategic global and regional pitches; Corporate Communications, which comprises Public Relations, Brand, Design, Events, and Digital; Business Management, which focuses on the coordination of major Whole-Of-Firm" M&BD priorities; and Strategic Initiatives, a team dedicated to managing and driving forward firm wide profile building and content-driven campaigns. There are also regional M&BD teams in the Americas, Continental Europe, Asia and South Africa with who this role will interact.Hogan Lovells' combined LAE practice has over 700 lawyers operating out of more than 40 offices around the world. We have a leading reputation in LAE legal services and over two thirds of our partners are recognised in the legal directories around the world. We have a well-established international M&BD team, which supports the firm on a wide range of business development, marketing, and client relationship management activities. The team is divided into two key areas: Clients & Markets, which broadly encompasses the BD teams in the practice, our CRM team, Business Analysis and InterAction; and Corporate Communications, which comprises PR, Brand, Design, Events and Web.Role OverviewWe need a capable and enthusiastic M&BD Assistant to support the London and Birmingham LAE M&BD team on BD and marketing activities for the LAE practice - a broad remit across some fast-paced and exciting areas of law. The role will encompass a range of business development and marketing activities including pitching and credentials; client targeting and cross-selling; client/sector and competitor analysis; profile raising and marketing campaigns including event support and communications such as directory submissions, digital and online content (intranet; social media and hoganlovells.com), and BD evaluation and reporting.You will support the team for your internal clients, being an interface with other parts of the firm to ensure seamless and timely service delivery in areas such as marketing communications, event organisation and business development.Key Responsibilities / AccountabilitiesPlanningProvide input and intelligence to develop the M&BD Plans for LAE, including delivering meaningful market analysis as required.Develop and implement project plans and ensure that the progress of the plans is clearly communicated to the relevant stakeholders, in conjunction with the M&BD Manager and Head of LAE M&BD.Monitor and report on competitor activity in an informed and timely manner.PitchesAssist with the coordination of pitch responses and credentials statements for the practice, including the drafting and design of tailored pitch material, ensuring best practice methodology is applied.Prepare input into firm wide pitches and assist colleagues in other offices with their pitches that require LAE input.Provide input to the firm wide Pitch Log.Assist in updating LAE input into Grab & Go and LAE pitch related documents.Assist in providing and facilitating background research, strategy, client briefings and competitor analysis documents in preparation for pitches and other client meetings.Knowledge management and internal communicationsMaintain key M&BD resources including on the global intranet, HL Global, and hoganlovells.com, and master credentials documents.Support lawyers in maintaining their CVs and in tailoring them for specific pitches and industry sectors. Ensure global team lists are kept up to date with new joiners, leavers and promotions.Assist on internal communications including electronic newsletters to be distributed through the iPublish tool.Client relationship management (CRM)Assistance with CRM support with the M&BD Advisers (LAE) and M&BD Manager, on events and comms across the LAE practice.Support and encourage full and effective use of the firm's CRM database (InterAction) and experience database (Foundation).Profile raising and marketing campaigns.Co-ordinate and support on in person and online client events/seminars in conjunction with the Events team, acting as the primary 'Coordinator' for internal clients.Help co-ordinate the legal directory submission process for London, including updating submission tracker.Assistance on the production of global and UK social media posts, liaising with the authors and relevant PAs to ensure publication to deadline.Support the creation of internal communications for the group, including internal newsletters and monthly practice bulletins.Support the M&BD team and central PR team on effective profile-raising plans and campaigns for the practice.Support the M&BD team in thought leadership campaigns.Collate and maintain communications statistics via iPublish liaising with the digital marketing team including consulting on best practice approaches.Wider M&BD initiativesContribute to the wider M&BD effort, which will include participating in specific firm-wide M&BD initiatives and projects, as required.Assist in the support of selected LAE industry sector groups.Any other tasks that may reasonably be required.Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.Person SpecificationQualifications and TrainingEssentialRelevant bachelors degree required.DesiredA relevant marketing or sales qualification, such as the CIM or equivalent.The CandidateEssentialPrevious experience doing marketing, communications, or business development work, preferably in a corporate business or commercial business environmentExcellent understanding of marketing and business development processes.Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to write compelling propositions.Effective project management skills including the ability to plan and prioritise conflicting demands to meet deadlines for the team.Demonstrates consistent excellent service delivery to internal clients.Demonstrates an understanding of the firm's business and marketplace.DesiredPrior knowledge and experience of professional services marketing.A general understanding of the legal market (in terms of key players and product areas) to aid familiarity with terminology and to add as much value as possible when talking with partners.General AttributesCreates a positive impact with colleagues, peers, partners and clients and is able to demonstrate diplomacy, listening and influencing skills.Demonstrates a keen interest in self-development and shows initiative.Team player who is proactive and takes ownership of tasks through completion.Agile Working StatementOur goal is to embed flexibility across our business by giving everyone the opportunity to work in an agile way, whether as a regular pattern or on an ad hoc basis, and we will be happy to discuss this further.Equal Opportunities Employment StatementIt is the policy of Hogan Lovells to provide equal opportunities for all employees in relation to recruitment, training and promotion.
