Marine, Ports and Itinerary Planning Manager (UK) We are looking for an experienced Marine Operations professional with a Chief Officer Certificate of Competency to join us at this exciting time for Disney with SIX fabulous ships at sea. A new, permanent opportunity to join our Disney Cruise Line team in London - this role will be based 4 days a week in our Hammersmith office, with one from home. Under the oversight of the Manager of Marine Operations, Ports and Itinerary Planning, this position is oversees and optimizes the operational efficiency of Disney Cruise Line\xc2\xae. itinerary planning and port operations. Responsible for development, monitoring of a consistent implementation of the itineraries to meet the company\xe2\x80\x99s goals and then managing the itinerary planning process to bring them to fruition and ready for execution. Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive itinerary plans, taking in consideration factors such as vessel capabilities, customer demands, fuel efficiency, and port availability and optimize said itineraries to be the most cost efficient possible.
  • Develops plans to optimize the planned itineraries to be the most cost effective and efficient as possible based on the Carbon Intensity Indicator ARCI policies.
  • Manage global maritime port operations & port services including Pilotage, Towage (tugs), linesmen, tender boats, waste management & gangways, Port Cost budgets and management of the Port agent contracting process.
  • Managing current and future business relationships with port agents including to cultivate current, build new & maintain strong relationships with the global ship\xe2\x80\x99s agents, port authorities, and all relevant port related stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective vessel operations.
  • Develops gap analysis in regard of preparing fuel cost and port cost predictions & forecasts, and monitoring these against the budget,
  • Support Staff Captains and Captains in respect of any itinerary deviation and port changes ensuring any contingency ports are capable to handle the vessel and arrange all services as required.
  • Manage all elements of the MXP itinerary and port cost management software, gathering port cost estimates, Input and optimization of itineraries, Fuel Management, all port bookings, management of cities & Ports, port destination questionnaires and information, & system management as a super user including user access and permissions
  • Verifies and supervises MXP support app for all required changes and system fix\xe2\x80\x99s and future developments for upgrades and develops training procedures to ensure MXP training is provided to other departments and vessels to ensure the system is used to its highest potential
  • Develops processes and procedures for global vessel associated port operations, including vessel scheduling, berth allocation, passenger handling gangways, Pilotage, tug agreements and services, tender boat contracting and management in tender ports and compliance with port regulations.
  • Create gap analysis and assessments for fuel consumption patterns to prepare accurate fuel cost predictions for both MGO and HVO for finance. Monitor fuel consumption during operations and implement measures to optimize fuel efficiency.
  • Maintain current knowledge of up-to-date port ops research and relevant projects, evaluate new technology and procedures for use onboard the ships and island(s)
  • Develops port cost predictions, considering factors such as port fees, pilotage charges, stevedoring expenses, and other associated costs, and responsible to manage these costs against the proposed budgets making the required service provider changes when required to achieve the budgets allocated.
  • Responsible to manage all actuals against the itinerary and port operations budget, ensuring that costs are controlled within the allocated budget and identifying opportunities for cost savings and implement those identified initiatives accordingly.
SMS Responsibilities:
  • Implementation of the general safety management responsibilities in SMS.
  • Responsible for implementing Safety Management System policies and procedures relative to areas of responsibilities.
  • Provides shore-based assistance for Masters and their Officers to maintain safe ship operations.
  • Assists in development of marine amendments to SMS policy and procedures for approval prior to sending them to the Executive Director Marine Operations.
  • Assists and keeps the Manager of Nautical Operations informed of ongoing and planned matters relevant to issues and materials in the SMS.
Education
  • Chief Officer Certificate of Competency Unlimited or industry equivalent
Experience
  • Deck Officer License and/or related experience in fleet operational and marine resources management preferably associated with cruise ships.
Skills
  • Great technical and people skills, analytical ability, sound judgment and operational focus.
  • Extensive knowledge of SOLAS Convention Chapters IV and V (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea,); the COLREG (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 \xe2\x80\x9cthe COLREGs\xe2\x80\x9d); associated national and international legislations.
  • Excellent knowledge of ships trading areas, including capacity to read and understand all future trading areas, including local regulations in relation to Navigation, but also a knowledge of local and international laws and rules around vessel operation in such countries/ports, including tax law, immigration law.
  • Must have great knowledge of the ship\xe2\x80\x99s operations and each deck department on board role.
  • Must display good knowledge of regulations governing the Marine industry under IMO, such as ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and understand how to access information when required. Deep knowledge of the company voyage plan system and Carbon Intensity Index ARCI policies
  • Good working knowledge and depth understanding of the industry, company and ships nautical systems and operation.
  • Must have ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a high pressure and diverse environment and able to execute operational imperatives in a swift and demanding environment.
  • Ability to take complex regulatory issues and requirements and condense them into simple, understandable, and executable guidance and operating procedures.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
