Job Description

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Carry out a wide range of assignments to improve the efficiency, quality and repeatability of the assembly production areas. Create supporting documentation and provide training to ensure successful implementation.

Support the achievement of daily business goals and progress long term technical and cost reduction projects.

To assist with the manufacture of NPI jobs when required whilst providing technical support in trouble-shooting production problems. Providing timely and efficient routings for the manufacturing areas.


Main responsibility is to complete sustain activities to support production within the assembly departments. Problem solving skills are paramount. Use technical expertise to define, document and provide training for current best practice, ensuring cost effective, repeatable and high quality practices are used for both existing production and New Product Introductions (NPI). Support production areas to achieve their KPI's by attending daily meetings and providing technical solutions to challenges as they arrise ? Managed the deployment of new equipment and processes through change management systems. Enable the smooth integration of new products into production by documenting tooling, work holding and gauging requirements in routings and specifications. Ensure costs are captures and calculated correctly by maintaining the integrity of routed times, work centres and costed batch sizes in SAP. To work with the NPI team to deliver new to market products that are right first time and use best practice. To drive the appropriate level of mental effort in the early stages of projects to complete the APQP/PPAP process as required including but not limited to FMEA's, process flows and design for manufacture. Keep well-informed of technical developments and review manufacturing methods. Observe and comply with Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the business from time to time.

What your background should look like:

HNC or Degree in Mechanical or production Engineering Practical knowledge of assembly techniques and a background in manufacturing engineering. The ability to programme, run and trouble shoots production problems on automated and semi-automated equipment as well as manual processes. Computer literate using Microsoft software. Previous experience maintaining an MRP system. Experience ensuring quality and lessons learned with flow diagrams, PFMEA's, control plans and quality inspection plans. Identifies and recommends new or improved manufacturing processes and technical developments. Ability to use own initiative to 'troubleshoot' problems in Production areas as they arise using industry tools such as 5 why's, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports. Continuous improvement involving Material Replenishment and Flow, Cell Design, Quick Change Over (SMED), 5S+1, Mistake Proofing and Standards of Work. Drive and passion to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work on own initiative and be creative.
