What you\'ll do

To secure physical flow by execute on sourcing and trading in non-ferrous recycled metal in compliment to Anglo American\'s existing base metals business. This is to be achieved through close collaboration with the existing base metals sales & marketing, trading and origination teams and the ferrous recycling & trading team. Develop opportunities that include utilising existing Anglo American assets (e.g. smelters) and potential from Anglo American\'s Group Technical and Sustainability teams.

KEY TASKS

• Grow, manage and convert an opportunity pipeline of non-ferrous recycled metal (incl. WEEE and battery metals)
• In contracting / originating deals work extensively with the respective Heads of Marketing & Sales in Base Metals
• Develop and manage a team to assist in originating and executing on physical non-ferrous scrap opportunities
• Manage non-ferrous price risk in recycled steel flows in collaboration with the Base Metal Trading team
• Develop and embed complex deal structuring, negotiation capabilities and physical trading skills
• Provide input to and manage implementation of the functional structure to execute on trade in recycled non-ferrous scrap
• Link and leverage opportunities across AA in developing strategies and customer solutions including ESG, digital tools, technical / processing capabilities and financing
• Collaborate extensively with the Manager Ferrous Recycling & Trading
• Develop long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, e.g. within Marketing and AA Group Technical and Sustainability and Business Development & Strategy

Qualifications

What we\'re looking for

• An undergraduate or post graduate qualification (Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience), Preferably in a technical degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Pure Science)
• Desirable: It would be advantageous to have a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
• Base Metals Market fundamentals
• Deep understanding of the global base metals scrap collection and recycling
• In depth commercial negotiation and physical trading experience in recycled metals/metals and commodity trade execution processes, e.g. documentation, LCs, contracting, logistics
• Extensive experience in developing new businesses and implementation of business processes.
• Desirable: Knowledge of Commodity Trade Risk Management (CTRM) systems and overall deal management experience in regard to origination and execution.
• An understanding of both Physical & Financial markets preferably in the mining or commodities industry.
• Physical logistics such as shipping, railing, trucking.
• SME knowledge of a commodities value chain (Inc. Trade lifecycle), end to end from Production through to Shipping (Inc. Contract to cash)
• Knowledge of Middle office, P&L (including attribution)
• Credit Risk and appreciation for exposure
• Commercially minded, innovative mindset and openness to new ideas
• Working knowledge of technical and sustainability considerations
