ROLE SUMMARY

The Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) organization delivers the following capabilities for Pfizer. Business application platforms supporting Pfizer\xe2\x80\x99s enterprise application and critical business processes. Infrastructure allowing business traffic to travel where it needs to go, internally and externally, along with the appropriate access controls. EP&S secures Pfizer\'s most important information assets through world class controls and protections and enables Pfizer\'s business results by making security an enabler and not a roadblock to achieving business results.

This role reports directly to the Data Protection Practice Lead within EP&S. The role is responsible for the design, engineering, operationalization, and continuous improvement of Pfizer\xe2\x80\x99s Data Protection infrastructure. This role will support Pfizer\xe2\x80\x99s internal enterprise Data Protection infrastructure as well as externally hosted cloud DP services.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be able to Engineer, Implement and Support Data Protection technology.
• In depth knowledge of and expertise with Rubrik, Avamar, Networker and Data Domain backup solutions integrated with VMware technologies, including vSphere.
• Guide and mentor Data Protection Operational Support teams as needed to ensure that the company\xe2\x80\x99s data is protected and there are no gaps in supporting the technology.
• The individual is expected to think outside the box in order to develop options to resolve issues within the service especially if there may be some impact to our clientele.
• Makes decisions to support data protection service issues that may impact critical sites.
• Work closely with DBAs to ensure that database backups (Oracle, SQL. MySQL) are optimized, ensuring that best practices are being used so that backups and restores are efficient.
• Uses vast comprehensive wealth of data protection knowledge and experience to drive critical decisions to improve the data protection and DR services.
• Ensure the efficient use of data protection backup resources through the establishment of effective capacity management and consumption measures.
• Work closely with Data Protection service providers to identify opportunities to increase overall efficiency either through transition to different hardware or tools that will optimize our global data protection infrastructure and footprint.
• In depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support externally hosted Data Protection and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• The individual in this role will be expected to informally take a leadership role in order to drive conversations and make decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical/engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in an enterprise technology setting, preferably one in a highly regulated industry such as banking/financial or healthcare/pharmaceutical.
• Deep Understanding of Windows and Linux Operating Systems to support Data Protection infrastructure.
• Knowledge of VMware technology.
• Understanding of AWS cloud technology.
• Strong communicative skills and the ability to simplify complex planning details into business operational terms in a global environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Database skills is a plus but not a requirement.
• Windows and Linux Administration is desired.
