Job Title: Cost/ Management Accountant Reporting to: Regional Financial Controller Location: Burnley (fully on-site, 37.5 hours a week) Salary: DOE
The successful candidate for this role is expected to be a hands-on, value-added team member who helps to achieve financial commitments by providing transparency to results and actions and plans for execution. The role also encompasses the accounting and reporting for inventory and fixed assets as well as the controls for these areas, including the development, maintenance, and annual update of accurate standard costs for inventory and equipment refurbishment.
Main Responsibilities:
Support business performance by providing operations financial analysis and thorough reporting of plant metrics and KPI\xe2\x80\x99s.
Provide Operations Management with weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial metrics (KPIs) to assist in driving business results.
Key player in the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, interpreting, and explaining month to date, quarter to date and year to date income statement results versus prior year, budget and forecast to managers.
Analyse & present cost centre performance information with key stakeholders to improve cost engagement, understanding & accountability.
Management of the allocation & transfer of costs to projects and work closely with the commercial team and project stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Ensure 100% reconciliation of the balance sheet with ownership of account reconciliations pertaining to inventory, inventory reserves, deferred refurbishment costs and fixed assets.
Monitor, evaluate, and coordinate the disposal of obsolete and excess inventories, including appropriate reserve requirements based on Company Policy.
Responsible for coordinating fixed asset inventories and physical inventories.
Responsible for accurate accounting for fixed assets.
Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets, direct department flexible budgets and forecasts.
Support with execution of all aspects of financial management, internal controls and company requirements.
Requirements:
ACA, CIMA, ACCA Qualified or Part Qualified with a strong exam track record.
Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in an operations or Management Accounting role, preferably in a similar industry
SAP experience and knowledge desired
Sound analytical skills, good planning/ organisation skills, attention to detail
Ability to prioritise effectively and to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to quickly absorb, analyse and summarize financial data in way that is meaningful to management.
Ability to build strong professional relationships with colleagues across differing functions with a stakeholder focused approach to Finance.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel
Experience in Project Accounting would be advantageous, although not essential.
