Alphagary, an Orbia business and part of the Polymer Solutions group, is hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to be based at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

Purpose:

To ensure that the Maintenance activities of the Company are planned, implemented, and safely managed to meet agreed objectives in terms of Plant and Buildings Maintenance within the framework of Group and Company Policy. Participate in providing a \xe2\x80\x9cround the clock\xe2\x80\x9d troubleshooting service.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prioritise and assign day to day work to maintenance engineers working on three shift systems to effectively support production and maintain high safety standards to meet safety legislation.
• Carry out health and safety requirements for assessing risks and preparing safe methods of work for tasks assigned to subordinates.
• Issue and control permit to work system for contractors and maintenance engineers involved in maintenance activities.
• Report and respond to health and safety failures and breakdowns on plant and machinery to provide corrective actions or isolation of faulty plant.
• Ensure that the maintenance department is organised, supervised, and equipped to provide safe, flexible, skilled service covering 24/7 operation. Maximise manufacturing time by reducing downtime and consequential costs.
• Ensure effective motivation, training, development, and utilisation of employees to meet the needs of the business; at the same time ensuring sound communication and human relationships are developed and maintained throughout the department.
• As required, assist in managing capital expenditure projects to ensure accurate cost records are kept and controlled within agreed budgets.
• Ensure cost effective and reliable maintenance of all site utility services (gas, water, electricity, etc). Evaluate, recommend, and implement energy saving and continuous improvements to the plant.
• Maintain appropriate systems, checks, procedures, records, and tests (i.e., lifts/hoists, forklift trucks, calibration, etc) to meet the requirements of legislation and Company Insurers.
• In liaison with the production department for plant access, maintain a cost-effective planned maintenance system to ensure the smooth operation of all production plant.

Qualification and Experience:

• Ideally the jobholder will hold electrical qualifications and have experience of mechanical repairs within a similar maintenance role.
• An understanding of automated CNC process controls would be desirable.
• Good self-organisation and administrative skills and able to promote and motivate teamwork.
• Must be computer literate in use of office systems and be willing to learn new skills.
