Maintenance Assistant



Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within CEUK for a Maintenance Assistant to assist the site Maintenance Department.

The Maintenance Assistant will assist the Maintenance Department in their tasks across the site.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:



Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure. Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed (using the Near Miss System) in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at work Act. To ensure appropriate PPE requirements are met when working in each area. Work in accordance with all site rules and regulations. To ensure that all tasks are undertaken in full compliance with the operating instruction and any associated manufacturing documents To demonstrate competence in all tasks undertaken through successful completion of the associated training and competence assessment including an understanding of the hazards, risks and controls associated with the task being undertaken To report any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed to line management To maintain the appropriate levels of housekeeping for your work area. Assist joiners Site clearance Litter picking Basic plumbing Grass cutting (seasonal) Painting Concrete repairs, slabbing Gritting (seasonal)

Qualifications/ Experience:



Essential:



Experience in carrying out multitude of practical skills in maintenance environment Experience working with hand tools and power tools Knowledge of materials and building methods Basic numeracy skills Basic literacy skills Ability to lift and carry weights up to 20k

Desirable:



CSCS PASMA IPAF Driving Licence Forklift Licence Telehandler Licence

The Candidate:



Must have personal commitment to Safety, Quality and Environmental standards. Strong bias for action to identify potential problems and co-ordinate their resolution before they become an issue. Communication and team working skills Knowledge of the principles of company policy and operating procedures in order to ensure site and company compliance.

Salary range: 25,000 - 27,000 (depending on qualifications, skills and experience.)
