The purpose of recruiting a Lubrication Engineer is to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of machinery and equipment through effective lubrication practices. This role plays a key part in minimising downtime, extending asset life, and supporting overall maintenance strategies. The successful candidate will contribute to improving equipment efficiency, reducing operational costs, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance within the manufacturing environment.

Monday - Thursday: 8am - 5pm & Friday: 8am - 4pm
Salary:
30,282 per annum
Key Accountabilities:
Maintain and promote health and safety standards across site, working safely at all times and complying with all legal and company safety procedures.
Execute daily, weekly, and monthly lubrication tasks to a high standard across all production lines, ensuring equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
Proactively identify and resolve lubrication-related issues contributing to wear, contamination, and failure.
Lead improvements to lubrication systems and processes, introducing best practice methods and modern technologies (e.g., automatic lubrication, condition-based monitoring).
Maintain and manage lubrication inventory, including storage, labelling, and use in compliance with COSHH regulations.
Own and manage the COSHH documentation and procedures for engineering, ensuring all hazardous substances are correctly assessed, stored, and used.
Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) by ensuring lubrication is integrated into schedules and executed alongside mechanical work.
Collaborate with the wider engineering and production teams to provide input on lubrication during root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.
Maintain a clean, organised, and professional work area, following the "clean as you go" approach and hygiene standards at all times.
Support and mentor apprentices and junior engineers in lubrication best practices.
Output Measures/KPI's:
Near misses raised and completed, compliance with safe systems of work, PPE usage.
Completion of lubrication schedule, machine uptime.
Reduction in repeat failures, breakdown analysis.
Implementation of upgrades, continuous improvement initiatives.
COSHH compliance, accurate lubricant register.
Audit readiness, training completion, up-to-date documentation.
PPM schedule completion, asset reliability data.
Contribution to RCA, cross-functional working.
BE AUDIT READY AT ALL TIMES.
Apprentice progression, on-the-job training records.
Skills and Qualifications
Formal engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/BTEC or equivalent)
Working knowledge of lubrication systems and standards
Experience in COSHH management and safe handling of hazardous substances
Computer literate (CMMS, Microsoft Office)
Experience in a manufacturing environment (Food/FMCG preferred)
Need to Demonstrate
Be able to work in a fast-paced environment (Food environment preferred).
Communicate to all levels regarding updates and ordering spares.
Health & Safety
Actively maintain a safe working environment, ensuring tools and materials are in safe condition.
Ensure engineering and contractor teams follow site safety policies and COSHH procedures.
Complete and maintain all relevant permits to work and risk assessments.
Promote a "Safety First" culture across all engineering tasks.
