Job introduction

Joining an established team working within Brighton and Hove, you will be working in education settings and in the community delivering a wide range of evidence informed interventions, under supervision. You will undertake mental health assessments (including risk assessments) and interventions based on the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) model.

You will work directly with children and young people of primary and secondary school age and in some cases their parents and carers.

You will support the Mental Health Support Team work to develop and deliver whole school approaches to emotional wellbeing and mental health, and will be working alongside a wide range of practitioners within the Schools Wellbeing Service to develop training and support offers.

The Mental Health Support Team is part of the Schools Wellbeing Service.

About the role

Principal Accountabilities

Undertake 1:1 therapeutic mental health assessment and interventions with children and young people and/or their families.

To assess risk and to record and communicate it appropriately and take necessary actions.

To work in a number of different ways with a range of professionals and other adults including teachers, parents/carers, social workers and other mental health professionals in the best interests of the child.

To effectively manage a caseload, which may be sensitive, traumatic or potentially emotionally distressing.

To demonstrate competency in delivering CBT evidence based interventions to young people

Work with colleagues to design and deliver parent/carer workshops

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
