We require an experienced manager to join our team and take over a wide range of operational, HR and business management tasks for our flagship partner in Doncaster and Hull. This role will initially be primarily the management of our fleet and fleet maintenance team.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on manager to be based at our client's Doncaster delivery station to cover a wide range of daily duties from fleet and driver management through to HR and client management. You will report directly to the operations manager and business owner. Experience in the logistics business is beneficial but not a prerequisite.

Daily operational tasks will primarily be the management of our fleet and fleet management teams but may include driver rostering, route scheduling and assignment, hands-on team and fleet management tasks, managing issues, supervising and supporting the morning loading of vans, monitoring on-road progress, providing driver assistance and arranging rescue missions, end-of-day de-briefs, scheduled and ad-hoc client liaison throughout the day and updating our own and our client's information systems

Additional tasks may include recruitment, onboarding and managing training, ordering uniforms and other supplies, management of weekly van checks and scheduled and ad-hoc van maintenance requirements.

We follow rigorous processes with world-leading systems and technology to support them. You must be self-motivated, highly organised, decisive and able to work on your own initiative.

You will be self-employed and set up assistance will be provided if required.

You must be:

Dedicated and dependable with excellent organisational and communications skills and the ability to run the operation alone Able to work long days from morning preparation through to evening check in In possession of a full driving licence with no more than 6 points and no active IN, DR or TT endorsements Able to pass a drug and alcohol test Able to commute to and from the Doncaster delivery station Able to speak, read and write English to an excellent level Able to use office tools and client systems
