This Clinical Oncology Consultant post will be based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW). The appointee will work with site specific local and specialist MDTs for Breast cancers at the UHCW and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWUFT). The typical new patient caseload is expected to be around 5 per week, and up to 210 per annum overall, based on 42 working weeks of routine work (excluding leave and on-call). They would also contribute to the On Call rota (currently 1 in 18).
1. The appointee will take ongoing responsibility for patients under their care.
2. The appointee will provide a consultation service and advisory service to other clinical colleagues in other specialties within the Trust and Primary Care.
3. The appointee will develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in their specialties and work to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards including the development of treatment protocols and guidelines.
4. The appointee will attend the site specific MDTs and participate in, and support, the multidisciplinary care team which includes Medical Oncologists, Clinical Oncologists, Surgeons, the relevant junior team, Specialist Nursing Staff, Therapists, Dietician, Social workers, Palliative Care and Psychology services for patients and families.
5. The appointee will take part in the departmental audit programme as well as participating in multidisciplinary audit relating to their area of clinical interest.
6. The appointee will participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
7. The appointee will supervise trainees working in the Department and will assist in their training and appraisal, including acting as Educational / Clinical supervisor.

This Oncology Consultant post will be based at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) with sessions at the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWUFT). The appointee will work in site specific local and specialist MDTs at UHCW and SWUFT.
The appointee will work with site specific local and specialist MDTs for Breast cancer at UHCW and SWUFT. The typical new patient caseload is expected to be on average 5 per week in a 10PA job plan, and up to 210 per annum based on 42 working weeks of routine work (excluding leave and on-call).
The role is supported by a dedicated CNS team. You will be expected to support the Acute Oncology Service and the Oncology ward in-patient care, as necessary on working days. Patients will be treated in both the Arden Cancer Centre on the UH site, the Maple unit at St Cross Hospital Rugby, Rigby Unit at Stratford and Aylesford Unit at SWUFT. This is part replacement and succession planning post for the breast team due to retirement and cross-cover at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust for Breast cancer.
The post is required to support the site-specialist consultant led service including facilities for inpatients and outpatients, a dedicated chemotherapy suite and radiotherapy facilities. In addition, there is an integrated Oncology Clinical Trials Centre and the department is currently developing its Medical Oncology team. This post is based at The University Hospital in Coventry (UHCW), with weekly commitment at the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover for MDTs (videoconferencing is available) and to liaise with the Acute Physicians/Emergency department as part of the supporting the Acute Nurse Led Oncology Service and when on call.
The key duties of this post will include driving forward Breast Cancer care in systemic anticancer therapy, and Radiotherapy/Clinical Trials.
You will be joining a team of 22 Clinical Oncologists and 3 Medical Oncologists at UHCW Cancer Centre, serving UHCW and the adjoining Cancer Units at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWUFT), George Eliot Hospital (GEH), Stratford Rigby Unit and Rugby Maple Unit.
