My client is an abattoir that requires a Livestock Manager to oversee their sheep holding facility and ensure the highest possible welfare standards. Sheep are held on site before slaughter, the Livestock Manager\'s job is to lead the stock team through intake, animal welfare, licensing, weighing and grading.
A key part of upholding welfare standards is inspecting sheep and identifying any that arrive with health concerns - the Livestock Manager must be knowledgeable of and be able to detect common diseases, injuries and health problems that affect sheep.
Whilst the majority of this role will be hands on, stock management there will be an element of office work including overseeing transport logistics and spot checking livestock paperwork/licences. Basic computer skills will be required to operate the company\'s livestock management system.
The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, be well organised and able to keep up with a fast-paced environment. Prior people management experience would be advantageous.
