Linux Engineer
Fleet

As a Barclays Linux Engineer, you will be a member of the Linux Team. the primary function of the role will be supporting and developing a large estate of RHEL 6,7 servers to ensure internal Corporate, Data Centre, Acquirer and Customer systems stability. You will be part of a close team that ensures that services are managed and maintained to a high standard.

What will you be doing?

• Working within the infrastructure team delivering server builds through automation processes, capacity planning, documentation, monitoring, mentoring
• Troubleshooting and problem solving as well as design work to help the business by defining best solutions for their needs
• Liasing closely with security engineering, architecture engineers, product management, incident and change teams to manage, maintain and develop our Red Hat Linux estate
• Supporting business to deliver all requests and projects, identify and resolve issues whether they are raised by the business, identified by tools or through analysis of trends

What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

• Skilled Red Hat linux engineer with good knowledge of Automation tooling
• willingness to learn with the ability to continuously improve processes and documentation
• Passionate about making improvements to the environment with a keen interest in self-development
• Experience working in a critical environment such as the Financial sector

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Experience of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git)
• Demonstrable experience in Configuration Management systems, preferably Ansible, and in the automation of infrastructure workflows
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and/or 7 administration and configuration
• Knowledge of Linux best practice, troubleshooting, security/hardening and performance tuning
