Life Practitioners
to join our team at
Hawthorn House
, a well-established Children's Residential Home set within four acres of tranquil countryside in the picturesque village of Swinderby.
As a Life Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. Your contribution will help them lead meaningful and independent lives, promoting their personal development, emotional wellbeing, and social integration.
About the Role
In this rewarding position, you will support individuals with daily activities, facilitate community engagement, and help build essential life skills. You will also have access to a
company vehicle
to transport young people to community-based activities including appointments, outings, shopping trips, and social events. A full UK driver's licence (held for at least two years) is required to drive the company vehicle.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the wider team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the young people in our care.
Encouraging participation in a variety of recreational activities, both within the home and in the community--such as visits to safari parks, fun fairs, and local restaurants.
Supporting the development of key life skills including communication, independence, and self-care, working in partnership with specialists like speech therapists and educational psychologists.
Assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
Building positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with the young people.
Accurately maintaining records and monitoring the ongoing needs of each individual.
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by contributing to the development of our team and services.

About You
What experience and qualifications do you need:
A genuine passion for care and to be motivated by contributing to the progression of others.
A strong team player
Resilient and confidence to ask for support as needed
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer literacy
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a willingness to complete this within the first 2 years of employment.
