The Post
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer to work in our busy Licensing team to support the effective and efficient running of the team, ensure compliance with legal requirements and licence conditions and to discharge the council\'s statutory duties in respect of a range of licensing functions.
The team is responsible for administering and enforcing a variety of licensable activities, including those related to alcohol, entertainment and late night refreshment; gambling premises and lotteries; charity collections; animal establishments, scrap metal and street trading.
The work will be interesting, varied and will include undertaking enforcement related monitoring and investigations in relation to street trading and licensed premises using the full range of enforcement options to ensure high levels of compliance. With an active late night economy as well as being home to Wembley Stadium and Arena, you must be willing to carry out duties at flexible times when required including evenings, late nights and weekends as part of this contract.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills to advise and guide businesses, be effective organising and prioritising their own workload to ensure you meet deadlines and importantly, hold a thorough understanding of best practice, legal requirements and procedures relating to all licensing activities of London local authorities.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer with practical experience of enforcement, including investigating complaints, responding to service request, carrying out routine inspections, preparing cases for court, recommending licensing conditions, , providing specialist and expert advice and guidance to licensees, applicants, general public, Councillors and colleagues on licensing matters and to administer applications for the grant, renewal, transfer and variation of a variety of licenses. The successful candidate will work as part of a small team but should be able to manage their own workloads and work to tight deadlines.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum of 2 years experience within the Licensing Team of a local authority (or similar relevant work experience)
-Practical experience of enforcement of licensing law in relation to the sale of alcohol, gambling premises, animal licensing and street trading.
- Skills in multitasking, prioritisation, workload management and time management.
- Working out of normal office hours as required in order to meet service demands and emergencies.
- Full driving licence is essential and the ability to drive a variety of council vehicles.
