Job Description

The Legal Counsel role will be responsible for the review of agreements and resolution of legal matters for the ANZ market.

Some of your duties will include

• Draft and review various contracts in line with Contract Manual and in collaboration with the business units and functions
• Provide legal advice and support in relation to all legal questions arising from daily business and local operations
• Collaborate with group legal, compliance and other functions in the implementation and enforcement of group policies in the area of responsibility
• Liaise with external counsels and manage legal costs
• Provide trainings/seminars on legal topics
• Perform other ad hoc matters for the Legal function

Skills and knowledge

• Advanced knowledge in contracts and commercial law with sound knowledge and understanding of the business and industry
• Substantial experience in the drafting and review of various contracts from working in-house. If from a law firm, must demonstrate experience in the drafting and review of contracts for clients.
• Demonstrate appreciation and respect for cultural sensitivities especially in cross-country/culture interactions
• Demonstrate ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with integrity
• Demonstrate knowledge of adaptation of the law within the cultural/legal framework of countries
• Proven track record of resilience, agility and ownership
• Advanced stakeholder management and time management skills

Experience and Requirement

• Mid-level lawyer (around 5-8 years PQE), minimum five years legal experience
• Law degree with strong credentials from university of good standing
• Australian law qualification/admission to the Australian bar
• Superior written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in any other languages is an additional asset
• Experience in consumer goods/healthcare/distribution industries is an advantage
