Join the Close Brothers Legal Team where you will offer legal and commercial focused advice on a wide range of business, transactional, legal risk management and regulatory issues across the Bank with a primary focus on contentious matters but also covering regulated lending, asset finance, invoice finance and project/transactional work.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Legal advice and support in relation to litigation management, including contentious matters affecting Commercial businesses (including, where relevant, liaison with insurers, external counsel and internal stakeholders) Providing legal advice and support on a wide range of strategic, business, legal risk management and regulatory issues for the Commercial businesses Working with colleagues in the Bank's Commercial businesses and across Central Functions (including Compliance, Risk, Corporate Development, Finance, and Third Party Management) Structuring, review and negotiation of a range of commercial / corporate contracts and engagements and advising on legal / risk ramifications, including engagements with external counsel and other advisers Adding value across a wide range of legal areas including litigation, insolvency, and lending as well as areas where the candidate is not a subject matter expert but where they have the confidence and ability to provide support (with the involvement of external counsel, where appropriate) Develop effective and integrated relationships and credibility with (i) internal stakeholders across the Group and (ii) external stakeholders (including external counsel, insurers and other advisers)

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF HAVE/ARE:



A well-rounded, broadly based lawyer with demonstrable intellectual capabilities and an excellent career track record Contentious financial services experience A broad legal experience to date including in the areas of litigation and wider contentious support but also supporting wider financial services/regulated business workstreams, with an ability and willingness to provide generalist legal advice, including in areas where the candidate may not be a subject matter expert A solid understanding of the financial services industry and issues affecting Close Brothers Ability to act as a credible ambassador for the legal team in key decision-making meetings and the ability to take ownership for delivery of strategic projects. A technically strong, pragmatic, business-orientated lawyer with the breadth of experience covering commercial and other broad-based legal and regulatory risk issues Sound legal judgement with a strong appreciation of legal risk and an ability to communicate to all levels of the business
