Lecturer/senior Lecturer/associate Professor/professor In One Health Approaches To Companion Animal Antimicrobial Resistance

Bristol Area, United Kingdom

Job Description

The role

Bristol Veterinary School is seeking to recruit a dynamic and outstanding research-active faculty member with expertise in basic, applied or clinical research in companion animal antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antimicrobial usage or experience and links in veterinary public health.

AMR research at the University of Bristol has expanded remarkably into an integrated, multi-disciplinary community of over 100 researchers spanning all research faculties and winning significant research income, placing Bristol as the UK leader in terms of value of cross-council AMR awards. This post will work collaboratively with the applied experience of Bristol Veterinary School\'s sector-leading research group, the AMR Force. The post is expected to capitalise on current and expected funding in the area of AMR, working jointly not only with researchers in the AMR Force but also with colleagues across the University and externally. Depth and breadth of knowledge in an academic discipline which supports the development of new knowledge and understanding in the field of AMR research are essential. Work documenting the pathways involved in selecting and transferring AMR genes and developing novel approaches to limiting AMU and AMR (including in built or urban environments) will be encouraged. Opportunities will be available to grow links through our integrated, multi-disciplinary community - Bristol AMR - consisting of over 100 researchers spanning all research faculties at the University of Bristol as well as DEFRA, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate and industry bodies as well as international links, accessing cross-Council AMR funds and other funding strategies. The AMR research landscape in Bristol is exceptional in its breadth and multi-disciplinarity; it presents great opportunities for researchers to further build capabilities in this area.

The post is advertised from Lecturer to Professor level.

The post is based at the University of Bristol\'s Langford campus, within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Many collaborative opportunities in the wider University are also available. You will be expected to build or expand your research group through external funding from UKRI and related funders, supervise postgraduate research students and contribute to teaching in relevant subject areas on one or more of our Veterinary Science BVSc (incl. Accelerated Graduate Entry Programme), Veterinary Nursing and Companion Animal Behaviour BSc, and Global Wildlife Health & Conservation MSc programmes.
