Faculty / Directorate
The Leicester School of Pharmacy is one of the four specialist schools that forms the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The Leicester School of Pharmacy has three undergraduate programmes, including the highly regarded MPharm, as well as postgraduate taught provision and has an excellent reputation for the delivery of courses with a vocational emphasis.
Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and many courses have professional accreditations. A range of work experience and volunteering opportunities enable students to develop the skills required by graduate employers. Recent graduates have secured roles with leading employers such as AstraZeneca, Ministry of Defence and the NHS.
Role
The school invites applications from highly motivated individuals for a fixed-term Lecturer / Senior Lecturer vacancy (maternity cover) within our Biological Sciences team. You will be expected to contribute to the teaching of molecular biology, with an emphasis on targeted therapeutics, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and undertake other responsibilities and duties commensurate with the role. You will have research interests that align with the Leicester Institute for Pharmaceutical Innovation and there will be opportunities to engage in research. You will join an enthusiastic team working in modern teaching and research facilities.
The Biological Sciences team within the Leicester School of Pharmacy support several programmes including our MPharm, BSc Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science and M.Sc. Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.
Ideal Candidate
You will have a PhD in molecular biology or a related subject and have an in-depth understanding of the subject area. Expertise in the areas of targeted therapeutics, bioinformatics and /or microbiology is desirable. Experience of teaching at HE level is also desirable, but not essential for this role. Your research profile will evidence your ability to contribute to research and consultancy income generation within the School. You will also evidence academic citizenship and share DMU\'s passion to provide outstanding and inclusive outcomes for all of its students.
