Job description
The Department of Digital Humanities is appointing a Lecturer in Social and Cultural AI. This appointment is made on the College\'s Academic Education Pathway (AEP), meaning that its focus is on education, pedagogy and the delivery of our student experience in the Department. This is an education-focused appointment and candidates will be expected to evidence attainment and potential in teaching and learning within an HE context.
We are seeking an educator in the field of Social and Cultural AI, with a track record of designing, delivering and leading Higher Education teaching at all levels. You will have experience of contributing to a major teaching programme or equivalent activity; or be able to demonstrate the aptitude to do so.
The successful candidate will have a sound technical knowledge of AI, and an understanding of its application in one of more of the Department\'s areas of research. These include, non-exhaustively, AI for good, the role of AI in surveillance, and the combatting of bias and discrimination on (and by) AI platforms, and other social and cultural aspects of AI.
The post holder will contribute to our fast-expanding Masters programmes in Digital Humanities, Digital Culture, Digital Economy and Big Data in Culture and Society, as well as our BA in Digital Media and Culture. They will also be required to supervise student dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We welcome candidates who can bring global/non-UK perspectives to our curricula.
We especially welcome applications from members of under-represented communities, and from those who are willing to contribute proactively to our ongoing conversations about reducing inequality at King\'s, and in academia more broadly.
This post will be offered on a full-time, fixed term contract until 31 August 2024.
