Job Description


We are looking for an outstanding individual to teach and inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students at the School of Pharmacy, University of Reading. You will join our team of expert lecturers to develop and deliver high quality teaching and foster an excellent learning environment.

Reading School of Pharmacy is focused on promoting research-informed teaching with an emphasis on teaching the prescribing pharmacists of the future. We offer an exciting opportunity for a practicing pharmacist to contribute to the development, delivery, and management of an innovative curriculum.

Working within a supportive and diverse professional team, the post-holder will be expected to contribute to a range of teaching, research and/or scholarship activities, including admissions, assessments and acting as an Academic Tutor. The post-holder will have opportunities to develop their teaching skills, create and use teaching resources, and contribute to the design, management, and development of the MPharm and other relevant programmes.

The post-holder will be enthusiastic about delivering the best student experience and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice with a particular focus on independent prescribing and its associated skills. Teaching will be focused on supporting undergraduate learners, however, there will be an expectation to support postgraduate programmes.

It is essential that applicants have an enthusiasm for cross-discipline working, with colleagues across the University, workplace-based learning providers and the NHS.

Within this post, you will maintain your practice through a regular patient-facing commitment in pharmacy. You will apply your experience and expertise in pharmacy to deliver current, authentic, and evidence-based teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

You will have:

  • General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration as a pharmacist
  • GPhC annotation as an independent prescriber
  • Post-graduate training or qualification relevant to pharmacy
  • Experience of teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate healthcare professional students
  • Advanced clinical practitioner or good experience of undertaking diagnosis with physical assessments in practice
