Job description
The Department of War Studies seeks to recruit a Lecturer in Gender and War, to provide maternity cover. The successful applicant will undertake high-quality research and support the BA and MA programmes in the Department.
Candidates should hold a doctorate and demonstrate a developing research path in Feminist International Relations or Gender Studies, with a demonstrable focus on the study of war and conflict. The candidate should have produced excellent publishing outputs that have contributed to empirical, theoretical or conceptual understandings in their field. The successful candidate must be able to lead modules and deliver teaching on Gender and War, Feminist Perspectives on War, and Gender in International Politics and Security, to a broad age range of international students.
Some prior experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students is required. Candidates will be expected to assist in organising and supervising seminars and student activities, and may be expected to contribute to teaching on other subjects within the Department of War Studies if required.

Key responsibilities
Undertake high-quality research within the field of Gender and War, publish the findings in highly-rated internationally recognized journals, and participate in major internationally recognized academic networks
Take responsibility for the planning, organisation and delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities within the Department
Supervise postgraduate student dissertations.
Develop and use a variety of methods to assess student learning and provide feedback that is timely, relevant and appropriate
Attend meetings and conferences to share and present research findings, which creates a professional network and enhances the national and international standing of the Department
Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Head of Department
Carry out administration as requested by the Head of Department
