Job Details:
The School of Design is looking to appoint an academic to join the Fashion Directorate as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Fashion Marketing.
Fashion at Middlesex University has a well-respected heritage in practice and research across the disciplines of the fashion industry, with many alumni enjoying successful design careers in leading international fashion houses or founding their own labels. The Fashion programmes also maintain established relationships with the fashion communication industries. Middlesex University has invested heavily in state-of-the-art studio and workshop facilities, and fashion students (from Foundation Certificate to PhD level) work alongside many other Visual Arts, Design, Performing Arts and Media cohorts in a dynamic community within the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries.
The role typically will be held by an experienced or developing practitioner and academic with an understanding of the fast-changing landscape of fashion marketing. We are looking for an individual who demonstrates high quality teaching in contemporary theoretical and practical approaches to marketing as applied to fashion and related industries. The role holder will have knowledge of the impact of new technologies and social, cultural and economic shifts that are influencing contemporary fashion marketing, post-pandemic, both as a practitioner and with experience of teaching the subject at higher education level.
The successful candidate will co-lead delivery of an exciting new programme at Middlesex University in BA Fashion Marketing, offered jointly between the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries and the Faculty of Business and Law. This new collaborative programme capitalises on the synergy between the two areas of Fashion and Marketing, allowing students to look to marketing from a global fashion perspective and examine fashion with commercial insight. This programme enables the development of a curriculum focused on Inclusive Socio-economic Development and Enriching Lives through Culture in line with the university strategy and focuses on achieving UNSDG12 Responsible Consumption and Production.
You will be working closely with the Director of Fashion Programmes and colleagues in the Business School, to deliver a curriculum that is collaborative, creative, innovative and built upon a core of ethical and sustainable commitments.
Please note, we will be looking to appoint to either the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level for this vacancy. As a composite post, only one appointment will be made. Please ensure you submit your application to the correct post.
