York St John University (YSJU) in London is growing and seeking to build up a team of academic staff to support the delivery of our exciting portfolio of programmes, especially for the Top-Up Degree programme in Computer Science and Data Science.

The role




We are looking to appoint Lecturer to contribute to the delivery of our BSc Computing for Industry programme.


Applications are invited from academics and practitioners who have expertise, experience and the ability to teach any one of the following modules:

Mobile App Development Cyber Security Blockchain Artificial intelligence Machine learning Database system and programming

The post holder will develop and engage in high quality teaching, learning and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including online and blended approaches. They will also begin to develop external recognition at national level (e.g. external examining, external body representation) and contribute to the development of the subject discipline within the School/University through engagement in regular curriculum review activity that incorporates current knowledge and practice. The successful candidate will develop a teaching portfolio that reflects best practice and is regularly reviewed and refined through self-reflection, peer-support, student feedback, professional development and scholarly activity.

Required skills and experience




Candidates must have successful higher education teaching experience or equivalent professional practice, and be adept at addressing the diverse needs of students from varied cultural, class, and ethnic backgrounds. They should possess substantial subject knowledge and current disciplinary methodologies, enabling contributions to existing teaching and research programs. Additionally, they must have recent, relevant research activity or professional practice with an emerging track record of recognised outputs such as publications, performances, or presentations.


In terms of skills and attributes, candidates should demonstrate a personal commitment to equality and a high level of expertise in teaching their subject discipline, acquired through personal research or professional practice. They should be skilled in employing diverse pedagogic techniques, including technology, to engage students with varying learning styles. The role also requires the ability to teach and supervise postgraduate students, contribute to the institution's research activities through collaborative and independent projects, and potentially generate external funding. Lastly, they are expected to actively participate in community and engagement activities, such as recruitment and open days, to support the wider goals of the School and University.
