Salary: Grade: 8 from \xc2\xa344,240 to \xc2\xa348,093 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to \xc2\xa356,903 per annum inclusive of London Weighting. (Pro-rata)

Brunel Design School is seeking two new part-time members of staff to support the Digital Media programmes. For these roles potential staff would be expected to have expertise in one or more of the following specialist areas:

  • 3D Asset Creation and Animation
  • Immersive Media (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality)
  • Motion Design/Graphics
Successful applications would be expected to become team members for our MSc in Digital Design Pathways programme (with pathways in 3D, Immersive Media and Motion Graphics), and also members of our UG programme teams for the BSc Digital Design and BSc VFX & Motion Graphics.

As a member of the academic staff you should expect to participate in all aspects of teaching and examining such as lectures, tutorials, practical workshops, tutorials and assessment. Staff would also be expected to provide specialist support to postgraduate and undergraduate students in their major/dissertation work.

You will work collaboratively within course teams, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions.

It is highly desirable to have experience of higher education (or comparable context), an ability to participate in curriculum development and assessment, a sound knowledge of the theories and practices in your Digital Media specialist areas, and be able to contribute to the Programme\xe2\x80\x99s research and/or knowledge exchange profile.

You should be comfortable working with diverse cohorts of students and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice and will engage students through a combination of innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and research.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll have or should be willing to attain, with Brunel\xe2\x80\x99s support, a relevant teaching qualification or recognition e.g., Fellowship status of the Higher Education Academy.

You should possess a record of professional practice and/or research in your specialist area.

Other desirable skills and knowledge include: Expert knowledge of software such as Maya, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Motionbuilder, ZBrush, After Effects and contemporary game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.

You should be a specialist practitioner and/or researcher who is keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be proactive and actively contribute to the programme\xe2\x80\x99s aims and vision. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of your specialist area in an academic and/or professional setting and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields.
