Learning Mentor needed for a established yet evolving special needs college in the Trafford area.

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of students with Complex Needs such as physical, communication, sensory, emotional & behavioural obstacles to learning?

Our client, a special needs college in Bolton for students with Complex Needs aged 19-25, is part of an outstanding and well respected education trust that are looking for a hard working and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team from January 2024 onwards.

Role: Part-time Learning Mentor at further education college supporting students with additional needs such as Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs, Sensory Difficulties, Moderate Learning Needs or Specific Learning Disabilities (SpLD) such as Dyslexia or Dyspraxia.
Location: Trafford
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Part-time, 3 days per week (19 hours), long term, could turn into a contract for the right person.

Hours: 3 days negotiable between Monday to Friday 9am-4pm.

Pay: Up to \xc2\xa312.85/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide small group & 1:1 support to students aged 16-19 with additional needs.
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning plans, tailored to individual students\' requirements.
  • Foster a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students\' engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to develop effective strategies and interventions.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience supporting teenagers or young adults with additional needs is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Candidates with a background as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Residential Support Worker or Care Worker will be considered if you have a DBS on the Update Service and professional references from the UK that can evidence your experience with special needs.
