We are an award winning, internationally recognised Living Museum with 50 historic buildings and gardens. Set in 40 acres of the beautiful South Downs National Parks.
We are looking for someone to fill this dynamic role. You will be responsible for delivering inspiring learning experiences to school, family, and community audiences at the Weald and Downland Living Museum, working closely with the Learning and Public Programmes Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental role in engaging our visitors and local communities with the museum's rich resources through the creation of innovative, inclusive and accessible experiences for all.
Key Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Learning and Programme Manager, develop and deliver formal learning programmes for schools, colleges, and universities.
Create engaging workshops and activities aligned with the National Curriculum to grow learning audiences and experiences.
Prepare and deliver on-site, outreach, and digital learning experiences.
Coordinate, train, and develop volunteers and freelance workshop leaders.
Establish and maintain quality standards for educational delivery.
Provide ongoing support and feedback to volunteers and freelance educators.
Manage the recruitment and professional development of workshop leaders.
Family and Community Engagement
In collaboration with the Learning and Programme Manager, design and implement vibrant informal learning experiences for families and community groups.
Develop innovative school holiday activities and family programmes.
Create interpretive resources.
Engage with diverse community audiences to widen and diversify museum participation.
Build strategic partnerships with community organisations to grow audiences and strengthen engagement.
Operational Management
Manage bookings, enquiries, and administrative tasks for learning programs.
Conduct programme evaluation and reporting.
Assist in producing marketing materials and contribute to museum marketing strategies.
Manage learning-related budgets and invoicing under the guidance of the Learning and Programme Manager.

Essential Skills/Experience
Excellent teaching and facilitation skills.
Strong understanding of audience engagement, inclusion, and accessibility.
Exceptional organisational and administrative capabilities.
Computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office products, and ability to learn new software and database packages including Sage accounting software
Current valid driving license or reliable transport.
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and some evenings as required.
A clear understanding of Safeguarding standards and requirements.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
Proven experience in museum, heritage, or educational learning environments.
Demonstrated skills in training and managing volunteers and freelance educators.
Understanding in all relevant areas of Health and Safety, preparing risk assessments, taking appropriate responsibility and action where necessary.
It is Important to note that the successful candidate for this role will require an enhanced DBS.
