Job Description

Overview:

As a User Experience (UX) Lead, you will be responsible for designing and ensuring the user experience of RSSB's digital products, making them usable and accessible for our customers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and engaging experiences.



Our digital products include industry tools for safety, health, sustainability, and efficiency on the railway, a website for sharing content with our members, and internal business systems. Emphasis is placed on data insights and engaging ways for users to interact with data.


Responsibilities:
Embed user-centred design principles within the company. Ensure digital solutions meet design and quality requirements and comply with accessibility standards. Align UX goals with business objectives, ensuring clear communication with product management, engineering, and stakeholders. Establish user research, usability testing, and A/B testing processes to inform and validate design decisions. Lead UX activities for strategic, large, or complex products. Conduct user experience analysis, understanding product usage context, and specifying UX, design, and accessibility goals. Create and iterate prototypes and wireframes to visualize user interfaces and user journeys. Utilise and maintain a design system to ensure consistency and efficiency in designing new user interfaces.

Qualifications:

Essential

Relevant qualifications in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field. Extensive experience in UX design, including wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Figma). Experience designing engaging data visualizations and ways for users to engage with complex data. Understanding of the software development lifecycle, controls, and governance. Communicates effectively and shares thoughts and ideas through methods appropriate to the audience. Adapts and responds effectively when embracing new opportunities, change and in navigating uncertainty. Actively contributes as part of a team and work towards achieving team goals and outcomes. Takes responsibility and demonstrates accountability in completing tasks and achieving objectives, actively seeking to resolve problems and identify opportunities. Committed to customer service and placing customer satisfaction at the heart of our success to ensure we deliver against our shared goals. Can work collaboratively within an evolving industry, gaining stakeholder confidence through understanding their goals and motivations and demonstrating credibility as an expert. Makes timely, informed decisions taking account of the benefits and constraints involved.

Desirable

Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience designing user interfaces for Sitecore, Power Platform, and/or Dynamics.
