The Dried Plasma team Cambridge, part of Components Development, are recruiting a Lead Specialist to set up lab management processes and systems, to ensure GMP/BSQR compliance for the manufacture of Dried Plasma for clinical use commencing with a clinical trial.You will design, develop and implement a number of key processes and systems, delivering these on time and to budget, operating independently but with support and guidance.NHSBT has the vision of saving and improving lives. The ambition is to be THE world class Blood Service, combining excellence in quality, patient safety, customer service and productivity.You will be an important member of the Dried Plasma and Component Development team, implementing new processes and systems, driving change and continuous improvement.Main duties of the jobIn this role you will be responsible for acting as subject matter expert and lead on service and component development within Dried Plasma, Components Development and across other directorates where applicable. Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the new Dried Plasma Manufacturing Facility meets GMP / MHRA requirements in line with current NHSBT laboratories.
  • Leading on a range of workstreams/change and implementation processes addressing standardisation, new ways of working, introduction of new technology and processes, service and product development and improved processes and performance.
  • Developing expertise and providing the primary point of contact for internal and external agencies within a designated area, supporting the operation in the maintenance of quality.
  • Providing expert advice on standards and specifications for systems, processes, consumables and equipment and leading on evaluation and procurement processes.
  • Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of practices, procurement, licensing and regulatory requirements in all relevant areas associated with blood component collection, manufacture, distribution and use.
  • Evaluating and generating innovative ideas, supporting and contributing to the development of strategy and improved service delivery.
