About the role
This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role The base location for this role is Newcastle upon Tyne, NE12 8EW. Ideally you'll live within one hour travel of this location.

What you'll do
Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of software developers, supporting their growth and helping foster a collaborative, fun and creative working environment Collaborate with product and agile delivery functions to translate business requirements into technology solutions, informing the technical design and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer needs Build and maintain resilient, scalable and secure software solutions Proactively identify and resolve technical, process, or dependency-related blockers to keep the team productive Conduct code reviews, and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and enforce best practices Champion operational reliability by troubleshooting production incidents, ensuring prompt resolution, and promoting a blame-free culture Lead your team towards the goal of becoming a high-performing, self-organising product team, applying adaptive planning techniques to deliver innovative solutions to business problems Stay up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive technological advancements within the team

About you

You'll fit right into this role if you:

Have an in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas: + .NET (C#, RESTful API development, Messaging, Azure)
+ Flutter (Dart, Provider/Riverpod, Integration testing)
+ Vue.js (TypeScript, Storyblok, Vitest/Jest, Component libraries)
Have a working knowledge of DevOps practices and principles, embracing automated pipelines to achieve continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) Have a good understanding of infrastructure as code and its importance in the Software Development Lifecycle Lead by example, advocating for clean and maintainable code, with a focus on automated testing and TDD Maintain awareness of the changing security landscape, always considering levels of risk and promote the importance of following security best practice during solution development Possess strong leadership and management skills, with previous experience leading development teams Have excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to present ideas and opportunities to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the business Have proficiency with version control systems like Git, including understanding of branching/merging strategies and their practical implementation within team workflows Understand and communicate the advantages of a microservice architecture and value of separation Are supportive of an inclusive culture - recognising and valuing that difference is good Want to develop and are ready to work alongside some great people and have lots of fun on your Greggs journey!

It's not essential, but we'd love to hear about it if you have the following:

Linux, Ubuntu Core and Snap package management Understanding of cost management principles when working with cloud services Experience working with logging and monitoring tools to ensure reliability of services
