Working 37.5 hours a week alongside the multidisciplinary team, you be responsible for assessing the social care need of patients in secure care from a forensic perspective and be a principle provider of a quality Social Work Service to address those needs as outlined in patient care plans.

Our Lead Social Worker role involves:

  • To ensure an accurate, up to date social history is available for each patient. (For own clinical case load and to ensure these are met for other members of the team.)
  • With a patients\' permission, initiate and maintain contact with patients\' families and/or significant others offering support, information and where relevant to care plan, joint family/patient sessions.
  • Ensure when it is part of an agreed care plan, participation in focused casework with individual patients.
  • Ensure that patients\' have access to advice on financial, childcare and legal matters, acting in an advocacy role with the aim of empowering patients\' to be able to take more control over their lives.
  • To take a leading role in promoting anti-discriminatory practice ensuring that issues relating to race, gender and sexual orientation are given appropriate consideration in the compilation of care plans.
  • To develop, write and submit for approval, a departmental operational budget in accordance with the companies\' financial planning procedure.
To be successful as a Lead Social Worker you\'ll need:
  • Good working knowledge of the relevant legislation
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification practice
  • To be registered with the HCPC
  • CQSW or CSS or Dip SW or Degree in Social Work
  • Understand and champion the social perspective on mental health
  • Good knowledge of the Care Programme Approach and Department of Health guidelines re discharge of psychiatric patients
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent self-presentation in an articulate and pleasant manner
