What it's like to work here:Reporting to the General Manager, you'll be based at Ilam in the Peak District, leading a team of seven rangers and gardeners plus a team of volunteers.
We have ambitious plans to do more for nature by creating, restoring and connecting wildlife-rich habitats - you'll be the key person co-ordinating all this activity.
Situated in the spectacular setting of the Peak District, the White Peak incorporates several iconic areas with land amounting to over 1700ha. These include: Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, Ilam Park and Thorpe Cloud.
You'll be part of a dedicated and knowledgeable team of countryside professionals across the Peak District, including the Lead Ranger at Longshaw and a Countryside Manager in the High Peak.
You will also play a key role on the Senior Leadership Team helping to drive the wider portfolio plan, including supporting the visitor business and commercial growth. This role offers the successful candidate opportunities for personal development across an incredibly diverse portfolio.
What you'll be doing:As Lead Ranger, you'll lead a small team of rangers and gardeners who care for the landscape in the White Peak. One of your key areas of work is to support our tenant farmers transition to managing our land for nature and carbon.
You will also plan, develop and coordinate a wide range of capital and cyclical management tasks, commission specialist contractors and continually develop a programme of conservation, access and engagement projects.
You'll use your leadership skills and countryside management experience to drive forward our vision and ambitious plans for conservation. You'll do this on and off our land and by working in partnership with others.
You'll also play a role in moving forward our plans to make our places some of the most accessible in the Peak District.
