WHAT TO EXPECT

The Chassis Suspension Function Group is responsible for developing and delivering suspension systems such as Active Suspension, Active Roll Control, Adaptive Damping and Air Suspension.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the design, development, testing, and supplier management activities that support the introduction of new or updated Spring and Damper modules, and to also support the development of JLR Module Engineering processes. The role will deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, lead the delivery of technical content, and validate integrity of Spring and Damper modules across specific programmes. The role will also lead / guide / mentor less experienced Engineers to achieve these same goals for their components / programmes.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the JLR Worldwide Engineering Release System
• Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables
• Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones
• Contribute to vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues
• Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets
• Ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation
• Ensure all programme design solutions meet:

• Programme targets for cost and weight
• Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation
• Keep all Module documentation up to date including:

• Meeting minutes
• Foundation and Programme Design analysis documents
• Update standards / corporate knowledge as appropriate

WHAT YOU NEED

Essential:

• Some experience of Suspension System or Chassis Engineering
• Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
• A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
• Experience of developing technical requirements specifications and associated test plans
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
• Degree qualified or equivalent experience

Desirable:

• Experience of delivering suspension damper, coil spring and air spring technologies from concept to launch
• Experience of leading / mentoring / guiding less experienced team members.
• Able to author and analyse spring and damper models in Catia v6 including use of kinematic models
• Experience of working within agile scrum methodology
