The Accessories department is looking for a dynamic Lead Engineer to drive On-Cycle delivery of structural commodities such as deployable and fixed side steps, towbars, underbody protection and self-recovery winches. The role involves working cross-functionally with areas including Core Engineering, Vehicle Attributes & Vehicle Engineering (VAVE), Manufacturing, Product Marketing, Programme Management, Finance and Creative to develop robust, innovative and feature-rich solutions supporting a diverse project landscape. Commodities will be delivered for both line and retailer fit, which follow unique processes. Working with support from the relevant Subject Matter Experts, the Lead Engineer will be responsible for understanding the initial requirements for a programme based on the vignette and then developing this into robust technical assumptions, eventually leading to the development and delivery of structural commodities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a diverse commodity group, in a fast-paced environment, providing exposure to several manufacturing technologies and supplier groups.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
Lead cross-functional problem resolution of technical issues
Deliver Accessories products in line with quality, cost, weight and timing constraints
Develop concepts during initial programme stages and take them through to launch
Develop RFQ cost packs and support sourcing activity
Generate commodity plans using relevant tools e.g. 3DX
Manage suppliers to successfully deliver to relevant standards and requirements
Generate technical and cost assumptions and manage throughout programme
Release parts for vehicle build and aftermarket sales through recognised change management process
Plan and manage component and system level testing using relevant tools e.g. DOORS/RTC
Ensure completion of ESO and PSW in line with programme timing
Support prototype build and launch activities
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Essential: Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification/experience
Experience in electro-mechanical component/system development and delivery
Knowledge of Digi-Buck/Vis-Mock-up/3DXperience
Good communication and presentation skills to all levels
Working knowledge of Agile Methodology and associated tools e.g. JIRA
Knowledge of PCDS and CCDS framework
Desirable: Knowledge of JLR engineering release and change management systems/processes
Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Experience of problem-solving tools and ability to lead problem resolution initiatives
Experience in WERS, AIMS, RMDV, eAPQP and PSW processes
Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: 45,000.00-55,000.00 per year
