Job Details
This is a rewarding role within Roads & Transportation, which allows the successful candidate to influence how roads are maintained within Fife ensuring safe travel for all.
You will be expected to provide professional supervision, technical guidance, management and co-ordination of the activities and functions of the Network Condition team. Work with others within and out with the Service to ensure the consistent development, improvement and delivery of high quality, best value, customer focused services.
Leading in the delivery of innovative affordable road maintenance solutions and continue to provide Fife with a safe and serviceable roads network, whilst considering increasing demand and challenging economic conditions.
The role involves leading and coordinating the centralised Network Condition team in the strategic and operational management of Fife\'s roads and transportation assets to ensure they are safe, their condition is maintained and improved in line with service standards, current legislation and codes of practice.
Discharging the Council\'s duties in respect of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 in terms of maintaining the adopted road network and minimising the risk of third-party claims related to road condition.
Previous experience of budget monitoring, performance management, leadership and team building are essential to the role. You should possess a high degree of political awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to relate to elected members and members of the public alike.

While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations in Fife as required.
The Person
Working with the Service Manager to ensure the application of service delivery remains at a consistent and high professional level, you will hold a Degree or equivalent level of education. You will have an extensive knowledge of roads and transportation and experience of roads maintenance, roads asset management and roads network management functions.
You should have prior experience of managing resources, leadership, and mentoring others by sharing your knowledge of civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and tendering procedures.
Your leadership and team building experience should allow you to successfully lead the team forward under challenging circumstances.
