The Role





Are you experienced in laboratory procedures and protocols? Do you have a strong understanding of handling laboratory glassware and equipment with care and precision? Are you confident in managing laboratory stock, preparing practical experiments, and leading lab sessions? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.



We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Manager to support the successful delivery of our General Chemistry, Biology, and Physics courses. This key role will work closely with course lecturers to prepare, manage, and deliver laboratory sessions, ensuring a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment for students.



The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for preparing laboratory materials in advance, ensuring all equipment and consumables are available for each session, maintaining the cleanliness and proper functioning of the laboratory, and leading the Biology and Chemistry laboratory sessions directly with students.



Your laboratory skills, attention to detail, and commitment to student learning will be essential to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of our laboratory-based courses.


Key Responsibilities




Cleaning and washing laboratory glassware and equipment (e.g., large vessels, beakers, stirrers). Preparing, organizing, and distributing materials, glassware, and equipment for each laboratory session. Receiving and managing material shipments for laboratory use. Supporting the maintenance and cleanliness of laboratory equipment and spaces. Delivering laboratory sessions to students in introductory chemistry and biology courses. Providing ad hoc assistance to students during laboratory sessions. Co-developing laboratory protocols and risk assessments with teaching staff. Ensure all laboratory safety protocols are followed by students during laboratory sessions. Ensure alignment with course learning objectives, student skill development and align with lab goals. Follow all policies and procedures of the Kadan's laboratory and ensure the Verto lab is clean and well organised.



Knowledge, skills, experience, and language requirements




Master's degree in a Chemistry, biology or related Life Sciences discipline. 3-5 years of industrial or research/academic laboratory experience. Previous experience working with university students Accountable, honest, hardworking, and able to work efficiently. Flexible and adaptable to meet laboratory requirements. Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to follow written instructions. Good written and verbal communication skills. Well organized and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently. Computer literate in standard MS office applications. Scientific understanding of basic lab equipment. English fluency (written and spoken). Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.



Location:

Canary Wharf, London E14 5GX


Working Hours:

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)


Contract Dates:

July 05 - Dec 05 (5 months) (800 hours)


Compensation:

17,600 (3,520 per month) (22/hour)
