Are you an experienced Kitchen Assistant, looking for a challenge within a dynamic and enthusiastic team? Then you're the person we are looking for!
We are looking for someone to work alongside our team to deliver a GREAT level of service at Tingley Garden Centre. In this role you will be required to support the kitchen team with stock count and inbound deliveries, adhere to our health and safety standards, as well as contributing to cleaning duties which are in place to keep our kitchen areas impeccable and safe to work in. You will be preparing and producing meal orders so knowledge about the foods / products we use, and allergens is required.
This role is 20.5hrs increasing to 25hrs in peak (which is school holidays)
Week 2:Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday & Friday 10am- 2pm (extending to 4:30 in peak)

Key Responsibilities:
As a Kitchen Assistant you will be required to:
Prepare and cook and produce high quality meal orders for customers
Build strong collaborative working relationships with fellow colleagues
Ensure all products are date checked
Complete weekly stock takes and deliveries
Ensure Food Hygiene Standards are adhered to at all times to the highest standard
Maintain the kitchen, floors, preparation areas, equipment, utensils, food preparation equipment to the cleaning and hygiene standards
Sort, store and distribute ingredients and deliveries.
Wash, peel, chop, cut and cook food orders to the desired menu standards
Wash utensils and dishes and make sure they are stored safely and appropriately
Efficiently and safely use and maintain all kitchen equipment such as mixers, pot wash machinery, Ovens etc
Look for ways to minimise waste by using appropriate production methods
Collect and dispose of waste in a safe manner & to carry out any additional tasks as deemed necessary to meet the demands of the Business.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise:
The ideal Kitchen Assistant is someone who:
Has prior experience working in a catering setting or similar role.
Has strong organisational skills.
Has completed a level 2 hygiene certificate in catering.
Has excellent cooking skills and a good understanding about nutrition and allergies.
Is knowledgeable and has a high level of understanding about produce and ingredients.
Can work unsupervised and consistently delivers quality work.
Has good communication skills and can work effectively in a team setting
Is competent with working well under pressure.
