Position Summary:



As one of CVP's Junior Technical Consultant in London/Brentford you'll get involved in a wide range of tasks/roles focussed on the coordination, set-up and management of cinematography, broadcast and digital technology in both our Great Titchfield Street and Charlotte St. showrooms as well as our Brentford office and providing pre- and post-sales technical support for CVP customers and sales teams.

This can include checking and trouble-shooting equipment and working to provide solutions where issues exist, working in conjunction with colleagues (both in the offices and at events) to demonstrate gear to customers - including discussing features, specifications, merits of equipment vs. alternative products and compatibility, supporting the sales teams with technical queries, set-up and break-down of equipment for workshops/events in Soho (both Great Titchfield & Charlotte Street and other locations as required), assisting the team in set-up and break-down of equipment for external events (you'll potentially be working as a part of the CVP events team across the range of exhibitions and demonstrations we participate in), and any other tasks that may be reasonably necessitated.

Desired Skills, Experience & Knowledge:



You'll have a strong understanding and interest in the cinematography, broadcast and AV industry with a minimum of a years' experience working with broadcast/digital cinematography equipment (this could have been gained as part of a college/University course) and an understanding of content acquisition, post-production and broadcasting technology.

Intermediate/advanced skills in cinema and broadcast cameras, video technology and control systems.
Strong knowledge of most items CVP stock throughout our showrooms to be able to demonstrate kit to customers whether they walk in or book an appointment.

Experience with set-up, installation and use of broadcast video and film equipment Ability to operate a variety of AV equipment for demos and events Good knowledge of film and/or photography techniques, including lighting. Minimum one year's solid industry experience with references is a must.

Main duties include (but not limited to):



Pre-sales and after sales technical support for our customers and sales team (by phone and email)

Configure packages according to the customer's needs/project/vision/etc. (Including system/package wide needs; cameras, lenses, lights, rigs, camera and lens accessories, gimbals, etc)

Advise salespeople if their quotes are comprehensive and add the required value to customer, proposing amendments/improvements were relevant (items missing, incompatibility issues, alternatives offering improved performance/value etc.)

Help customers with technical questions they may have before purchasing

Help customers with technical issues/queries faced after purchasing equipment

Demonstrating kit to customers in our showrooms, on sites, and at events (both pre-booked appointments and walk-ins)

Organising and/or attending various events (in house or at exhibition centres)

Assisting in the creation of kit lists for specific events (dependent upon target audience/attendees)

Running/assisting with running CVP organised events across in Newman St., Charlotte St. and at external venues. These may be product specific (e.g. event focussing on the Canon C70), or a category of kit (i.e. lighting etc), or a hot topic (i.e. event about FF vs S35), etc.

Contributing to events organisation - (internal and external). Including building kit lists, organise loan kit with manufacturers/suppliers/internally, organising logistics to ensure all the kit is where it needs to be on time, etc.

Assisting our web team to ensure new gear is correctly categorised when added to our website.

Providing CVP's web teams and sales team a list of all the accessories we'd recommend for new products coming to market (e.g. for the Canon C70 launch; what batteries, media, lenses, cages, tripods, etc. should be listed as accessories under the item on our webpage)

Researching market innovations, development and launches and advising CVP on new kit that we should be selling
