Job Description

As a IT Helpdesk Technician, you will be essential in providing technical support and troubleshooting software issues to ensure seamless IT operations. Reporting to the IT Manager, your core responsibilities include assisting users with help desk inquiries and delivering outstanding customer service. Your skills in computer networking and desktop support will enhance our IT infrastructure, while your relevant knowledge of Microsoft Office and firewall management will aid in resolving technical challenges. Day to Day / Week to Week Tasks



Setting up and maintaining security groups and network drives and restoring files from backups where required.

Rebooting servers to troubleshoot hardware issues as reported by staff members.

Attend group office sites for issue resolution and pro-active maintenance.

Out-of-hours and/or on-call working is periodically required where work cannot be performed when users are on the system.

Troubleshooting printer hardware issues including clearing and resetting printer queues, printer mapping for group policies and adding, editing and removing printer drivers for existing printers.

Supporting and Updating approved applications when required.

Monitoring server and office 365 backups and troubleshooting failures.

Manually testing, restoring, and reporting of all approved back-ups.

Site visits to each office per week/when requested to support our team.

Troubleshoot internet service provider issues & outages / network switch Issues / Wi-Fi access point issues. Update Wi-Fi SSID / Keys.

Supporting users setting up iPads/Phones

Maintenance & Infrastructure



Review firewall security and undertake a monthly audit and adjustment. Troubleshoot Router and firewall issues.

Upkeeping excellent relationships with third parties and suppliers and keeping operational documentation up to date.

Performing hard drive clean-ups, removing temporary, unnecessary files and restoring files from backups in the event of loss.

Administer and maintain customer infrastructure.

Undertaking quarterly infrastructure reviews and reporting your findings to the company director.

Monitor



Network switches and Wi-Fi access points / router and firewall operations & availability.

Anti-virus and anti-malware applications to ensure they run correctly.

Hard disk health and space, defragging when necessary.

High CPU usage and security and event logs.

The server room to ensure all hardware is running as expected.

Admin



Ad hoc administration which is a direct result of work you produce.

Attending training courses to support your job role.

General office housekeeping, including making hot or cold drinks.

Qualifications



Strong technical support and IT support skills Proficiency in troubleshooting Excellent customer service and communication skills Experience with Microsoft Office and firewall management Knowledge of computer networking and desktop support Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory Understanding of VPN, TCP, and SCCM Basic analysis skills and experience with computer hardware Must hold relevant IT A Level or Degree.
