Job Title: Inventory and Cost Accountant
Salary: \xc2\xa335,000 per annum + (Depending on Experience)
Location : Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Benefits:
25 days annual leave,
10% annual bonus (subject to conditions)

Job Opportunity:
We have an opportunity to join the Caterpillar Defense Business Resources team as an Inventory & Cost Accountant at our facility in Shrewsbury.
Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing standard costing, managing and reconciling the inventory accounts, ensuring compliance with inventory control procedures and policies, and providing valuable analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Whilst this opportunity sits within the Finance function, a key component of this role will be effective business partnering directly with Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain and other stakeholders from the wider business.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the inventory month end close cycle
Providing monthly analysis of key movements in inventory balances and variances
Collaboration with the operations team to ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions.
Monitoring and analysing production costs, including material, labour, and overhead expenses.
Calculation of quarterly Surplus and Obsolete Reserve
Preparation of annual inventory count samples for Inventory Count programs and monthly / quarterly submission of count results
Supporting internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of cost-related matters.
Annual update of standard costs
Customer / product profitability analysis
Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Educated to a degree level or qualified by significant experience
Working towards or completed Professional certification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to summarise and communicate to management / non-finance customers.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
Experience of accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Experienced user of Microsoft office
QAD EE ERP system.
