Who are we?
The Research and Analysis Team are vital to the business of the CTPSE. We produce high quality research and analytical products to support all areas of CTPSE business. This role is aligned to the CT Borders Policing Team (CTBP). CTBP work in partnership with other border law enforcement and intelligence agencies in protecting national security from the threats posed by Terrorism and Serious & Organised Crime. The role is intrinsic to the UK Counter Terrorism Strategy and supporting the British Intelligence Services in mitigating the threat to UK interests at home and abroad.
About the Role
The Border Intelligence Analyst role is a varied one, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to advise and assist in all aspects of CT Border Policing. In this role you will provide high quality strategic and tactical analysis of travel intelligence to support the management of known and unknown threats posed by individuals and groups seeking to travel across borders in furtherance of terrorism and serious organised crime.
You will identify travel patterns, routes of interest trends and vulnerable travellers to prevent or disrupt travellers of CT interest or otherwise reduce threat, harm and risk at the border. You will carry out detailed analysis using CT travel intelligence, travel route, manifest data and other border related information. Your analysis will assist in prioritisation, focusing intelligence gathering and guide investigative, enforcement and prevention activities. This will include making recommendations to drive business activity at both a tactical and strategic level.
You will use analytical techniques to create products to inform relevant strategic and tactical planning to the standard defined within the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and Authorised Professional Practice (APP).
Through the application of structured analytical techniques (SATs), and the use of analytical vocabulary, you will provide assessments of activities of individuals / groups / themes to establish the dimensions of the threat posed.
About you
You will have substantive current role-related experience as an Analyst in a police environment/partnership agency with excellent understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM). You will have a relevant professional qualification and completion of the National Intelligence Analyst training.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication/interpersonal, problem solving, time management and effective IT skills.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence. This post requires occasional travel across the South East region and the UK.
Following training and once established within the role, there is the potential to be part of an on-call cadre on a voluntary basis.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
